WASHINGTON, United States. – American President Donald Trump announced the United States´s leaving of the nuclear agreement with Iran, which occurs after several countries tried to persuade the President not to withdraw from the historic treaty.
Trump argued his decision affirming that, even if Tehran complies with the provisions of the treaty, the Persian country can develop nuclear weapons in a short time, and additionally, he indicated the agreement has failed in its purpose of protecting the United States and its allies.
The US President insisted on maintaining “powerful” sanctions against the Islamic nation and against any country that supports it.
Named as Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action, the agreement stipulated the lifting of several sanctions against the Islamic Republic, in exchange for its commitment not to develop or acquire nuclear weapons.
