ANKARA, Turkey.-The Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yildirim, communicated to his Iraqi counterpart Haider Al-Abadi the need to take joint action to avoid Iraqi Kurdistan´s secession, official sources said this Thursday.

In a telephone conversation, Yildirim expressed his country’s support for the resolutions taken or sought by the Government in Iraq after the independence referendum held in Iraqi Kurdistan on September 25.

These provisions include restricting the purchase of oil only to the managed by Baghdad, and the suspension of flights to the territory controlled by the Kurdistan Regional Government.

That last measure will enter into force at six hours tomorrow for the three Turkish Airlines that have so far operated flights between Turkey and Erbil, the capital of the aforementioned regional government.
