HAVANA, Cuba.- Sixteen member countries of the International Bartenders Association will be represented at the 22nd Pan American Cocktail Championship, from August 26 to 31 next at the Habana Libre Tryp Hotel.
Rafa Malem, President of the Association of Bartenders of Cuba, highlighted its genesis 94 years ago, which makes it the first of its kind in the world, and reiterated the aspiration of Cuba of hosting a world championship in 2020.
Jorge Luis Brito, head of the organizing committee, said that as a preamble to the six competitions of the program, the opening day they will try to reach a Guinness World Record to the largest Cuba Libre cocktail in the world.
That was an idea from bartender Sergio Serrano, the only Cuban world champion, supported by Havana Club International and Ciego Montero, Maitre Antonio Benítez said.
