NEW YORK. USA.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel talked about the opportunities on the island, with senior executives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the travel industry in that country.
The parties addressed the potential for those entities engaged in travel between Cuba and the United States, and referred to the need to eliminate bans preventing Americans from visiting the nation freely.
Several assistants ratified their opposition to the blockade imposed by Washington against Cuba and thanked the opportunity to dialogue with the Cuban President.
Diaz-Canel highlighted the importance of this event that took place in the context of his participation in the UN General Assembly in New York, and pointed out that the travel industry is a sector that favors dialogue and relations with Cuba.
For Better Links in Tourism
In his exchange with US executives from the travel industry, President Miguel Diaz-Canel referred to the increase in the island’s hotel capacity in recent years, where more than twenty foreign chains operate and mentioned the increase in the number of tourists received annually.
Diaz-Canel said that market scholars estimate that Cuba can aspire to receive from two to five million American tourists.
He added that the presence of travel agencies facilitates the arrival of people very motivated by their culture, history and nature of the island.
One of the participants at the meeting, Thomas Donohue, President of the US Chamber of Commerce, stated that the conditions are adequate in both countries so that there are better links in the sector, and they are taking one step at a time and will follow those efforts.
