Cuban delegation at Hemispheric Dialogue in Peru.

LIMA, Peru. – The delegation representing the Cuban civil society in the Hemispheric Dialogue in Lima, Peru, denounces the presence in this meeting of mercenaries who seek to usurp the legitimate representation of the island.

In the event, the legitimate delegation of Cuba shows well above who belong to the true, unique and legitimate fatherland of Marti and Fidel.

Mirthia Brossard, on behalf of the Cuban civil society, took the floor to denounce those mercenaries financed by imperialism and who lack legitimacy in Cuba.

Hemispheric Dialogue in Peru Stopped

The alternate spokesperson for Coalition 15 and Vice-President of the National Union of Jurists of Cuba, Yamila Gonzalez Ferrer, warned that as long as mercenaries are not taken out of the room there will be no hemispheric dialogue.

He reiterated Cuba came to Lima with a constructive stance and intention to dialogue from respect, so it does not admit any kind of provocations, and those that are given will receive their due response.

The slogans of the Cuban and Venezuelan delegations interrupted the speech of OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, who was nervous and with constant mistakes in reading.

In spite of this, the Cuban delegation’s vigorous request for the immediate withdrawal of mercenaries paid for by imperialism continued in the Hemispheric Dialogue room.

Cuban Ambassador Juan Antonio Fernandez spoke to express that “Cuba will not accept the presence of mercenaries.”

“Cuban civil society is the one there: our sports glories, scientists, youth, men and women of the people, churches and Cuban spirituality, those who face the blockade,” he added.

Fernandez stated that the Cuban civil society is not the one that is lodged in luxury hotels nor shares with terrorists.

The Popular Summit Is Born in Lima

“This is the true popular summit,” several representatives of the civil society of Latin American countries attending the hemispheric dialogue chanted in Peru. The event has turned into a scenario of confrontation between Cuba, Venezuela and the popular movements with a group of mercenaries credited to the meeting.

The organizers moved to a nearby place the exchange between the spokespersons of the 28 coalitions and the representatives of the Latin American governments, to session behind closed doors.

In the main hall, turned into an open tribune, representatives from Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia and Ecuador denounced the imperialist attitude of the United States and the servility of the OAS and its Secretary General Luis Almagro.

The delegation of Cuba, which did not dialogue with mercenaries or terrorists, left the main hall.
