Havana, Cuba.-The removal of Dilma Rouseff as the President of Brazil, without any evidence of corruption or high level crimes, constitutes a serious offense to the Brazilian people, said the government of Cuba on Wednesday in a declaration.
The declaration published in Havana on Wednesday strongly condemned what it regards as a ‘parliamentary-judicial coup d’ etat’ against the Brazilian population that elected her for a new presidential mandate in 2014.
The declaration also confirmed its solidarity with Rousseff, ex-president Luis Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2011) and the Brazilian Workers Party.
In accordance with the text, during the governments of both leaders, an economic/social model allowed Brazil to rapidly increase its productive growth, social inclusion, the defense of its natural resources, the generation of employment and poverty reduction.
Among the achievements by da Silva and Rouseff the document mentioned the reduction of the number of Brazilians living in inhuman conditions by 35 million and the increase in revenue of another 40 million, as well as the increase of opportunities in education and health for poor sectors.
The document also highlighted Brazilian cooperation with developing countries, especially African countries, and Brazil’s active membership of the BRICS Group formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, as well as its performance in different international organizations and events.
Under the presidential mandate of Da Silva and Rousseff, Brazil took part in crucial debates on the defense of peace, development, the environment and programs against hunger.
Cuba expressed its confidence, that the Brazilian people would defend the social conquests achieved by these leaders, oppose neoliberal policies and the plundering of its natural resources.
