Belmopan, Belize.- Central American countries continue expressing on Wednesday their solidarity with the Cuban people and government after a Sunday night tornado in which four people were killed and more than 100 were wounded.

‘Belize is in solidarity with Cuba @DiazCanelB, as Havana is recovering from the January 27 tornado. We send condolences to the relatives of the victims and affection to the injured and affected people, ‘the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belize posted on Twitter.

The government of El Salvador and the Permanent Committee for Risk Management in that country also expressed their solidarity with the victims of the devastating meteorological event that hit several neighborhoods in Havana, where rescue, assessment and recovery works began early Monday.

Similarly, Honduras, through a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sent its examples of regret for the loss of human lives and material damages caused by the tornado.

Panama also expressed to the Cuban government and people the most heartfelt condolences.

Costa Rica also joined these examples of affection and regret by sending a message of solidarity to the Cuban people and government facing a tornado tragedy in Havana.

Guatemalan Minister of Foreign Affairs Sandra Jovel also expressed her condolences and solidarity through her official Twitter account.

The government of Nicaragua passed on a message of support signed by President Daniel Ortega and Vice-President Rosario Murillo, in which they wrote: ‘all our affection in this day of difficulties and losses’.

Sunday night a tornado hit areas of the Havana municipalities of Guanabacoa, Regla, 10 de Octubre, San Miguel del Padron and East Havana, leaving four people dead, almost 200 injured, 74 of them still hospitalized, and 1,286 homes damaged, nearly 123 houses totally collapsed and 625 are partially damaged.
