SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile.- The President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, confirmed she will send the draft of a new Constitution to the Congress before completing her term on March 11.
This measure constitutes one of the reforms raised by the President in the government program of her second term, in which she aimed to a radical change in transcendental aspects for the Chilean society as education, abortion, equality and corruption.
Bachelet explained the initiative to reform the Chilean Magna Carta, which has been in force since Augusto Pinochet´s dictatorship, will include an indication to ensure equal pay for men and women.
During her current term, the Chilean President succeeded in establishing a new electoral system, and also authorized the vote of residents abroad, made tax reforms and lowered the cost of electricity.
