Camagüey, Cuba.- The project of the International Video Art Festival (FIVAC) will officially participate in the professional program of the 13th Biennial of Havana in 2019, organizers announced in this eastern-central Cuban city.

‘This eighth edition of the event will return to its roots with a non-competitive character where the important thing is to share. It is also part of the extensive program of the Havana Biennial, the most important meeting of plastic arts in Cuba, which is a recognition to the prestige achieved by the Fivac,’ said its chief curator, Teresa Bustillos.

The call for the event, which will take place in April 2019, was marked by the idea of reflecting the best of the arts of a city with more than half a millennium of history, and which will involve several of its cultural institutions.

‘Camagüey is one of the strongest artistic places in Cuba, and when such actions are organized we even think about the economy because they sell a destination, which is of interest for the tour operators in the Caribbean region,’ said Diana Rosa Perez, main producer of the Festival.

The Fivac, which in a decade of life has had the participation of nearly 900 artists from 63 countries, in addition to being a space for the marketing of video art, aims on this occasion to seek ‘the most humanized art, in response to their own phenomena of people,’ said Bustillos.
