Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said at the United Nations that the problems of the planet are not the fruit of Socialism, as Donald Trump affirmed this Tuesday, but of capitalism, especially imperialism and neo-liberalism.

When intervening in the General Assembly of the UN, Diaz-Canel evoked the presence in that room of Fidel, Raúl, Che and Roa, who, he said, not only brought the voice of Cuba, but of all the underdeveloped countries.

Let no one deceive us that there are no resources to eliminate poverty, hunger, diseases and other scourges; What is not there is the political will of the developed countries, said the Cuban leader after enumerating the number of people living in poverty or without access to drinking water.

Díaz Canel said that last year 1.74 trillion dollars were spent on military budgets, the highest figure in history.

Cuba aspires to peace

Cuba rejects the militarization of outer space and cyberspace, as well as the covert and illegal use of information and communication technologies to attack other states, Miguel Diaz-Canel said during the debate at the UN General Assembly.

The Cuban president stressed that the exercise of multilateralism and full respect for the principles of international law are requirements to guarantee peaceful coexistence and find durable solutions to systemic problems.

He warned that the use of threats and force, pressures, reprisals and sanctions increasingly frequent in the conduct and rhetoric of the US government, pose huge challenges within the UN.

Why not just concretize the promised strengthening of the General Assembly as the main organ of deliberation, decision and representation?, questioned Diaz-Canel.
