Havana, cuba.-Surgeons from more than 20 countries of Latin America, Europe and the United States will participate here in the 13th Cuban Congress of Surgery, to be held from November 8 to 10, organizers announced today.

Sponsored by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the Latin American Federation of Surgery, among other organizations, the event will be attended by representatives of the Dominican Republic, Panama, Ecuador, Chile, Angola, Nigeria, South Africa, Italy, Spain, Canada and the United States.

More than 700 papers will be presented, all of them centered on topics such as trauma, hernia, breast, transplantation, thyroid and parathyroid, minimally invasive surgery, bariatric and lung among others.

Also ambulatory and elderly surgery, with its peculiarities, will be an important issue to address.

At a press conference, Domingo Perez, of the organizing committee, stated that the meeting will address not only the surgery as a surgical technique but also in primary care.

To take place at Havana;s Convention Center, the event will also have pre-congress courses focused on breast surgery, oncology, thoracic and biliary tracts.
