SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba. – With a political act and military ceremony was recalled this March 15 the 140th anniversary of the Protest of Baragua, starred by General Antonio Maceo and qualified by Marti as the most glorious of the Cuban history.

The event held next to the obelisk of Mangos of Baragua in the municipality of Mella, was chaired by Jorge Cuevas Ramos, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party, who pronounced the main speech.

Lazaro Exposito, First Secretary of the Party in Santiago de Cuba, and Beatriz Johnson, President of the Provincial Assembly, attended the ceremony.

A floral offering was placed at the base of the monument on behalf of the Cuban people, and twenty-one artillery salvos were shot.
