Havana, Cuba.- President Raul Castro hosted in this capital a delegation from the United States Congress led by Democratic Senator from Vermont, Patrick Leahy.

During the meeting in which Democratic Senators Ron Wyden of Oregon and Gary Peters of Michigan also participated, the two sides discussed issues of interest for both countries, according to a report on Cuban TV.

Democratic representatives Jim McGovern of Massachusetts and Susan Davis of California, as well as Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, and director general for the United States Office at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, also attended the meeting.

Previously, Fernández de Cossío thanked the efforts by the congressmen to improve bilateral relations.

The delegation arrived in Havana last weekend with the aim of assessing the negative impact the reversal of the U.S. policy towards Cuba made by the Trump Administration has done on relations.
