HAVANA, Cuba.-The Director General of the United States in the Cuban Chancellery, Carlos Fernandez de Cossío, received in Havana a bipartisan delegation of congressmen and American senators, led by Patrick Leahy.

Leahy, Vice-President of the Senate Appropriations Committee, arrived in the Cuban capital alongside Senators Ron Wyden from Oregon, and Gary Peters from Michigan; and representatives Kathy Castor of Florida, Jim McGovern from Massachusetts, and Susan Davis from California.

The head of the American delegation has been one of the most active actors in defense of the rapprochement between Havana and Washington, which began in 2014, a process affected by the hostile stance of Donald Trump Administration.

Last June, Trump announced the intensification of the policy of economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and eliminated some of the progress achieved.
