New Delhi, India.- Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, arrives today in Rwanda in a tour of Africa which includes Uganda and South Africa, to strengthen relations with that continent and attend the Brics Summit.

Modi visits Rwanda for the first time in a two-day stay, first of an Indian Prime Minister to that African State, stated the Foreign Ministry portal.

India will extend two lines of credit for 100 million U.S. dollars for agricultural and industrial sectors of Rwanda, on occasion of Modi’s visit to that African country.

In Rwanda, Modi will visit the Genocide Memorial and participate in an event n the social protection national plan ‘Girinka’ (one cow per family), started by President, Paul Kagame.

The South Asian giant will deliver 200 cows to Rwanda as part of that initiative to promote fraternity and prosperity.

After that, India’s Prime Minister will travel to Uganda on July 24 and 25, where he will address the Parliament and hold talks at delegation level. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister in over 20 years. Modi’s official commitment i9n Rwanda and Uganda include bilateral meetings with the presidents of both countries talks at delegation level and meetings with enterprises and Indian communities there.

Two lines of credit for 164 million dollars will be extended to Uganda during the visit, detailed the portal of All India Radio network.

In the final stage of his trip, Modi will visit South Africa to attend in Johannesburg the 10th Summit of Brics, group that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, during which it is expected to debate on a series of global issues, including those of peace and international security.

Inclusive growth, global governancek, health and vaccines, the maintenance of peace and sustainable development will form the Brics summit’s central agenda. India’s close relations with Africa are consolidated by an association for development and a great presence of the Indian diáspora, said the Foreign Ministry.

During the tour, signing of several agreements and memorándums of understanding in the areas of defense, trade, culture, agriculture and dairy cooperation are expected. India’s PM will be accompanied by a high level business delegation.

Over the last years, commitments of India in several fields with African countries have intensified significantly, with 23 official visits to Africa at presidential, vice-president or Prime Minister levels.
