Cuban Minister highlights Cuba and CARICOM ties.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, highlighted today the ties of fraternity with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the potential for cooperation.

I held a fraternal meeting with the heads of mission of the countries of CARICOM accredited in Cuba. We ratify the historic brotherly ties uniting us, and the potential to strengthen cooperation and trade exchanges in mutually beneficial areas, Rodriguez wrote in his Twitter account.

On one occasion, Cuban Vice-Chancellor Rogelio Sierra said the links of the largest of the island with the Caribbean are an exemplary model for the world, especially in times in which hostility grows in the planet.

The ties of Cuba and CARICOM are of mutual support and solidarity, understanding of our needs, and interest in helping to satisfy them, Sierra said.

A Recognition to Cuba

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, highlighted the recognition of the United Nations to the Caribbean island, chosen to take responsibility in different bodies of the international organization.

New recognition for Cuba that was elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a member of the Executive Board of UNICEF, the Executive Board of the World Food Program and the Commission for Social Development, Rodriguez wrote in Twitter.

Cuba maintains close links with UNICEF, an organization that has confirmed for several years that the island is the only country in Latin America without child malnutrition.

Amid the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than half a century, FAO recognized the progress of the Caribbean nation in the fight against malnutrition.
