HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo, highlighted the close relations between Cuba and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, which this month reached its 45th anniversary.

Upon receiving the Chancellor of that Asian nation, Saleumxay Kommasith, at the Havana Capitol, Lazo also referred to the strong parliamentary ties, and thanked the support to the Cuban fight against the U.S. blockade.

Cuba will always be able to count on our support, the Laotian Chancellor said, who took interested in strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.

The Lao diplomat recognized Cuba’s help to his people in the most difficult times, mainly the solidarity of health professionals, and also mentioned that 24 students from his country are preparing on the island.
