Havana, Cuba.- The secretary-general of the Organization of Solidarity of the People of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL), Lourdes Cervantes, expressed here the organization”s support for draft of Cuba”s new Constitution.

The Cuban workers’ team at OSPAAAL is a leading part of this historic moment, Cervantes told. According to the official, the Caribbean island is experiencing ‘defining times in the design of Cuba’s revolutionary and anti-imperialist socialism that we want for the future.’

Our organization observes and accompanies this process, Cervantes said when ratifying OSPAAAL’s support for the just causes of the peoples, Cuba and its Revolution.

She highlighted the democratic nature of the popular consultation that started seven days ago throughout the country, where all Cubans have the possibility to express themselves on the Constitution.

Approved by the People’s Power National Assembly (Parliament), the draft Constitution contains general outlines of the Cuban socialist society that we want, Cervantes said.

The Parliament agreed on July 22 to hold the popular consultations from August 13 to November 15, and after that, the document will return to Parliament for the final analysis, before being submitted to a referendum for its approval or not by the people.
