Havana, Cuba.- The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, is still alive with his legacy of perseverance, courage and solidarity, researcher Fabian Escalante said here this Tuesday.

In statements to Prensa Latina a few days before the second anniversary of Fidel Castro’s death ( August 13, 1926-November 25, 2016), the retired Major General and security expert highlighted the statesman’s fighting spirit and the example he represents for current and future generations.

Fidel never renounced the ideas for which he fought, with a tenacity that inspired and inspires, said the author of several books on the war of the intelligence services of the United States against Cuba.

According to Escalante, his political stature and the changes generated on the island with the triumph -on January 1, 1959- of the revolution he led, help decipher the enemy’s determination to assassinate him, with more than 600 attempted assassinations thwarted.

Fidel Castro represents a triumph of life over death, with his guide Cuba left behind an era of shame marked by hopelessness, illiteracy, unhealthiness and foreign domination, he warned.

For the expert, one of the founders of State Security, for all his legacy, the phrase repeated today by millions of Cubans ‘I am Fidel’ represents an enormous commitment to the defense and continuity of the Revolution.
