Havana, Cuba.- The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, today highlighted the progress in the recovery process after the passage of a strong tornado that hit several municipalities of this capital.

Through a message on the social network Twitter, the head of state said that in a tour of the municipality 10 de Octubre appreciated the progress of the recovery of the effects of the tornado and addressed concerns of some neighbors.

‘The people recognize what has been done and that it has been the main protagonist. We are Cuba, we are Continuity ‘, wrote the president of the largest of the Antilles in his account @DiazCanelB.

Monday afternoon, Díaz-Canel made a tour of the aforementioned municipality and visited the Alfredo Miguel Aguayo seminary, as well as the ‘La Asunción’ teachers’ residence.

Both centers were damaged by the meteorological phenomenon, but they were rebuilt and already provide their services.

The Head of State delivered the Labor Prowess Flag to the Alfredo Miguel Aguayo School and the teachers’ residence, for the effort and dedication of teachers and students in the recovery.

The strong tornado that affected five Havana municipalities on January 27 caused six deaths, 195 injured, some five thousand victims and significant material damage.
