HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez sent a letter of congratulation to the Escambray Theater Group for its 50 anniversary.

Full text of the letter

Dear comrades from the Escambray Theater Group:

I was traveling when the group met, just ten days ago, the 50th anniversary of its founding in Manicaragua, very close to the Escambray Sierra.
I did not want to miss the opportunity to send you my congratulations with these lines to the founders and successive generations of theater artists who have continued giving life to this already legendary project.

We will always remember endearing figures like Sergio Corrieri and Gilda Hernandez, who guided many other actors and actresses also decided to take their art to the mountains and communities of difficult access, where peasants who saw theater for the first time immediately ceased to be passive spectators to become protagonists of an enriching process of collective creation.

Escambray Theater Group has been for half a century an example of constancy, faith in the emancipating capacity of culture and commitment to our people and the Revolution.

A strong hug.
