Havana, Cuba.- Researchers, academics, Cuban parliamentarians, Internet users and listeners from several countries have participated today in this capital in the forum ”The world against the blockade” to condemn the economic blockade imposed by the United States on the island.

The interventions made in the activity, called by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), were shared through a strategy of dissemination on social media and broadcast live by Radio Habana Cuba.

According to Jonathan Quiros, from the Center for Research and Studies on the World Economy, although the greatest damage caused by the blockade is at the economic level, any such affectation has effects on people.

This system of laws, measures and sanctions against Cuba has an impact on the island’s economy, but inevitably also on social issues, he said.

According to Quiros, it is very difficult to determine what has been damaged by the blockade and which problem of the Cuban economy responds to typical errors of a system in construction.

Not all is attributable to the blockade, but since the country’s economy depends on numerous external factors, the serious damage caused by a policy aimed at economically and commercially isolating the nation, as well as sanctioning third parties if they are related to Cuba, he explained.

The forum held by ICAP on Monday is part of the World Day We Have Memory: Solidarity against the blockade and terrorism, which began on September 4 and will end on October 6.
