Havana, Cuba.- The 13th Corhabana International Choir Festival 2018 will take place from June 26 to 30 in this capital, with the participation of about thirty local and foreign groups, according to the organizers.

The director of the National Choir of Cuba and president of the Festival, the Professor Digna Guerra, highlighted in a press conference the participation of vocal groups from Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, the United States and Cuba.

The opera workshop of the music school of Santa Barbara de Heredia (Costa Rica), the Chamber Choir of the University of the Americas of Puebla (Colombia), and the American soul choir The Stars will share the stage with professional formations, Cuban art children singing schools.

The School Cantorum Coralina, and the choirs of Camara Entrevoces, Exaudi, and Vocal Leo, are some of the local groups that will be involved in the event, dedicated on this occasion to the choral arrangement.

According to Guerra, there will also be three workshops related to this specialty, taught by professors Maria Adelaida Mejia (Colombia), Julio Cesar Morales (Mexico), and Conrado Monier (Cuba).

Corhabana 2018 will pay homage to Cuban professors Roberto Valera, renowned composer and pedagogue, and to Electo Silva (1928-2017), who is considered the dean of choral music on the island.

The Covarrubias Room of the National Theater of Cuba, the Minor Basilica of the Convent of San Francisco de Asis, the San Felipe Neri Oratory, and the Hispano-American Cultural Center will be some of the venues for the event, which is sponsored by the National Music Center of Concert of the Cuban Institute of Music.
