HAVANA, Cuba.- The Cubans recalled today in Playa Giron the 58th anniversary of the first great defeat of Imperialism in America.
The ceremony took place on this coastal locality, located to the south Matanzas province, a place that was the last stronghold of the invaders defeated in less than 72 hours by the Cuban troops.
Residents of the place and surrounding areas participated in the event, attended by the main authorities and managers of organizations in Matanzas, as well as combatants of that deed and relatives of martyrs.
The central speech was in charge of Olga Lidia Ramirez, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas, who highlighted that the patriotism of the combatants of Giron has transcended in time.
