yarisley_silvaHavana, Cuba.-The Cuban world champions Yarisley Silva, pole vault, and Denia Caballero, discus throwing, as well as the Pan American Runner-Up Yaime Perez, will compete in the 2017 IAAF Diamond League.

Yarisley Silva, silver medal in 2012 London Summer Olympics, Ekaterini Estefanidi from Greece and Sandi Morris from USA -Olympic Games Rio 2016 Runner-up, will be competing in Doha, Qatar, on Friday, May 5, according to Jit sports magazine.

Estefanidi, who won the gold medal with 4.85-meter Rio 2016, has not had any official appearances this year, even though Morris has only reached 4.72 meters in Des Moines, according to the IAAF’s official website.

The Cuban pole-vaulter had to face a quite complicated 2016 campaign due to personal problems, and unfortunately has not managed to obtain positive performances, to such an extent that she barely reached over 4.60 meters and finished in seventh place in the Olympic Games.

Among her most significant rivals will be British Holly Breasdale and Swiss Nicole Buchler, fifth and sixth in Rio 2016, respectively.

A year ago, Morris dominated the match with 4.83 meters, followed by Buchler (4.78) and Stefanidi (4.73), finally winning the gold medal with 62 points added up in seven events. On the other hand, the discus throwers Caballero and Perez will debut on May 13 in Shanghai, where Croatian Sandra Perkovic will attend this competition to defend her gold medal.
