InformaticaHavana, Cuba.-Seven Cuban projects are competing today in different categories of the World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) 2017, Cubadebate posted today.

According to the report, Cuba is competing for the online healthcare information network, INFOMED; the Cuban Collaborative Encyclopedia, EcuRed; the Pachamama Game Jam 2016 contest, at UCI; and the platform for the Cuban Information Technology Union.

Three projects from the ‘Jesus Montane Oropesa’ University in the Isle of Youth, the Domino game, the Cuban cuisine multimedia and the Database of the Diagnosis and Counseling Center of the special municipality also hope to win the contest.

The winner will be decided by the online voting open until April 30th, on the official WSIS Forum 2017 website.

According to the information, the Awards are a mechanism to recognize public initiatives, of the private sector, the civil society, international organizations and academic institutions that have had success in the development of the Information Society.

The contest is a platform to identify and demonstrate models that could empower communities at a local level.

This event also recognizes the efforts by academicians to put knowledge and the new information and communication technologies at the service of development.
