GUANTANAMO, Cuba.- The president of the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity to the people, Alicia Jrapko, said today that the Fifth International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases is a vital space to denounce and demand the closure and return of the territory occupied by Guantanamo Bay Naval Base.
Jrapko pointed out that the presence of a group of pacifists in the meeting, which she attends for the first time, is extremely relevant, because of the threat posed by the military escalation in the world.
The violation of Cuba’s sovereignty and international law means that Guantanamo has an essential meaning for the seminar for peace and the abolition of foreign military bases, the world defender said.
She commented that it not only means that there is an illegally occupied territory, but also it poses a threat to regional peace because of its position, that facilitates sending troops to any destination
