HAVANA, Cuba. – The trade union movement has a high responsibility to support the country’s recovery process, following the passage of Hurricane Irma, with measurable results that are concrete contributions to society and economy.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, secretary general of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC), said to the press that it is priority to compensate as soon as possible the damages in productive centers, industrial facilities and their environments.

He added it is important to meet the planting of several crops and sugar cane in the cold season, mainly in the provinces most affected by the hurricane, with the support of voluntary work useful and necessary.

The secretary general of CTC highlighted the need to recover centers ensuring asbestos cement, sand, blocks and other lines of the construction materials industry.
