Cubans highlight accelerated recovery rate.

HAVANA, Cuba.- People of Havana highlighted this Monday the accelerated pace of recovery efforts in the areas affected by a tornado that hit Havana last January 27, causing substantial material and human losses.

Inhabitants of the municipalities of Regla, Diez de Octubre and Guanabacoa recognized the work carried out by brigades of eight provinces, belonging to the Electric Union of Cuba.

Those solidarity groups came to Havana with the necessary equipment to work for the quick restoration of services, and in opinion of the authorities of the aforementioned entity, there is little to do because most of the customers have electricity already.

The Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines, Raul Garcia, reported that the primary and secondary networks are practically ready, and more than a thousand men worked there.

A Safe Passage to Recovery

During this weekend it also began the collect of posts, cables and other elements damaged after the tornado in Havana. The construction of houses for victims began last Saturday, and on this regard, Rene Mesa, Minister of the Construction, explained that 2873 of 3513 damaged houses have been classified.

According to the Minister, this census is essential for the acquisition of materials destined to reconstruction, and in this sense, the Cuban President insists on the need to work with quality and readiness in the offices of procedures.

Julio Cesar Gandarilla, Cuban Minister of the Interior, reported that since the passage of the tornado a climate of tranquility is maintained in all the damaged municipalities.
