Havana, Cuba.-Cuba has called for ensuring the protection of migrant children and adolescents in countries of origin as well as in countries of transit and destination, Cuban diplomat Claudia Perez Alvarez said today.
The Chargé d’affaires of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations in Geneva, Claudia Perez Alvarez, made this statement speaking at the 17th session of the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee.

Perez Alvarez noted that a report, which will identify measures to protect this population sector, would be submitted during the 33th session of the Human Rights Council, to be held in September.

According to Perez Alvarez, that report should be based on research on the global problem of unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents, and also should detail how their rights are threatened and violated.
