Ankara, Turkey.- A delegation of officials from the Cankaya City Council in Ankara presented today an assessment of local management following a trip to Cuba where they held a meeting with representatives of various Cuban municipalities.

The delegation visited the municipality of Playa, in Havana, and proposals were issued to implement a twinning between both places, learning directly the historical and cultural values of the municipality and receiving information on the management by local authorities and the system of people´s election.

From the meetings in Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Matanzas and Santa Clara, the Turkish delegates highlighted their visit to the pediatric hospital in the latter city, where Dr. Yuri Batista Varela showed them organization issues and various reports, such as the one related to infant mortality, which is three in one thousand live births, similar rate to the most developed countries.

Finally, they referred to the visit to Trinidad’s nursing home, assessing activities organized by local authorities and primary health care services, and highlighting the importance given to the well-being of the elderly.
