WASHINGTON, USA.- Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy will present the bill titled Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act before the new U.S. Congress, as he announced when condemning the new restrictions imposed on visits to the island.

In a speech in the Senate plenary, the legislator for Vermont criticized the decision of Donald Trump’s Executive to forbid people-to-people group educational trips, through which hundreds of thousands of Americans went to the neighboring country.

American citizens have had to resort to that and other categories authorized by the Executive to move to the island, because they are vetoed to go as tourists.

When addressing the new constraints, Leahy considered them as foolish and shameful measures that will affect many Americans and many good people in Cuba.
