cuba-vs-bloqueoBloemfontein, South Africa.-he Premier of Free State province in South Africa, Ace Magashule, has reiterated his commitment to solidarity with Cuba until the U.S. blockade imposed on the island, for more than 50 years, has been eliminated.

Magashule told Prensa Latina that the economic, political and commercial siege ‘should be lifted’ and this requires that ‘the world continues fighting.’

The first minister, along with the Cuban ambassador to South Africa, Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, opened an exhibition with 90 photos by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, at the National Afrikaans and Sotho Museum, in Bloemfontein.

The ties between his country and the Caribbean nation are very close; their cooperation started when the first group of Cuban doctors arrived in South Africa in February 1996 and it has now been extended to diverse sectors, he said.

Magashule recalled that this was a relationship started with their dear leader Oliver Tambo and continued later with Nelson Mandela.

He also expressed satisfaction that the display is in Free State during the ‘month of Oliver Tambo.’ The former president of the African National Congress (ANC) who would have turned 99 years old on October 27th.

The exhibition will be open until October 29th in Free State (about 400 kilometers south of Pretoria).
