TEHRAN, Iran.- Official sources reported this Tuesday that Iran maintained intense contacts with nine countries and the European Union to discuss possible solutions to the crisis between Arab Gulf countries, following disputes with Qatar.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke to his counterparts in Turkey, Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Tunisia, Malaysia, Lebanon, Algeria and Kuwait, on the latest developments in the area following Doha´s isolation.
In addition, Zarif spoke with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, who remarked the need to promote dialogue to solve the problems between Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain with Qatar.
As part of a coordinated action within the Gulf Cooperation Council, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Manama announced this Monday the breakdown of diplomatic and consular relations with Doha.
