The Sao Paulo Forum, made up of representatives of Parties and Non-Governmental Organizations of the left in Latin America and the Caribbean, issued a declaration of rejection of the new policy towards Cuba, outlined by the US President.

The text recalls that Trump said he will reverse the approximation process with Cuba signed by his predecessor Barack Obama.

The American President´s first measures seek to restrict the travel of American citizens to Cuba, and to hinder trade relations between the two nations, the declaration adds.

The Sao Paulo Forum fully defends the principle of peoples´ self-determination, unrestricted respect for Cuba’s sovereignty, and non-US intervention.
