Moscow, Russia.- Russia and Cuba strengthened on Thursday their economic cooperation and strategic partnership, after meeting here the vice president of the Council of Ministers of the island Ricardo Cabrisas, with authorities of this country.

Cabrisas covered a busy work schedule during which he met with the vice president of the Russian government, Dmitri Kozak, with whom he addressed strategic aspects of bilateral cooperation in several areas, including energy.

Both parts work systematically on issues of strategic sectors for the socioeconomic development of Cuba.

All this occurs in a complex international situation for both nations, both politically and economically, declared Cabrisas, in reference to the reinforcement of the US blockade against his country and Washington’s unilateral sanctions against Moscow.

The Cuban vice president highlighted the development of projects in the energy sector such as the construction of four generating blocks, to which equipment modernization projects in that area are added.

Kozak told Prensa Latina that with Cabrisas he had a constructive dialogue on all cooperation directions, on many levels and in various spheres. We agreed on the steps to follow to deepen that collaboration, he added.

During a previous meeting with the Russian Minister of Transport, Evgueni Ditrich, Cabrisas highlighted the importance of cooperation on issues related to national transport, which are a priority for the economic development of Cuba.

He considered that in spite of the identification of the common objectives, always arise difficulties originated by the own nature and complexity of the projects, from there, he pointed out, the importance of these meetings.

He also stressed the importance of solving problems through frank and face-to-face dialogue.

In moments when we put into practice Cuba’s economic development plan, transportation is a core issue, both naval, air, automotive and rail, he said.

During the day, the Cuban vice president and the delegation that accompanied him also met with the deputy general director of the Muromteplovoz company, Evgueni Tretyakov, and with the general director of Sinara, Viktor Lesh.

In addition, Cabrisas, who arrived last night in this capital, spoke with the President of the Board of Directors of the International Investment Bank, Nikolai Kosov.
