Russian parliamentarians say the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton act constitutes a manifest invasion of sovereignty.

MOSCOW, Russia.- Russian legislators highlighted the recent approval in the Duma of a resolution condemning the activation of Title III of the United States´ Helms-Burton Act.

Members emphasize the text adopted last May 3, where they repudiate the lifting of the moratorium on the effect of Title III of the anti-Cuban Helms-Burton Act, which constitutes an extraterritorial application of American law.

The White House application of illegitimate sanctions against foreign economic operators working in Cuba and using nationalized properties is another clear indication of the hardening of the blockade against the island, the Duma remarks.

The document clarifies that the activation of Title III, moreover, constitutes a manifest invasion not only of Cuba´s sovereignty, but also of that of the States actively cooperating with that country.
