Moscow, Russia.- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday noted Cuba”s prestige in the international arena and its development, despite the tightening of US sanctions against the Caribbean island.

At a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Lavrov pointed out that on the 60th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, Russia reinforces its ties with its strategic partner in the defense of international law.

Rodriguez Padilla, in turn, said that his official visit to Russia is taking place amid a complex international situation, with a growing danger for world peace and, especially, in Latin America.

We have great coincidences with Russia in the international arena and in world organizations, pointed out the Cuban foreign minister, who highly valued Russia’s role in word security.

In addition, the head of Cuban diplomacy thanked Russia for its solidarity in the fight against the US blockade and expressed Cuba’s denunciation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)’s approach to Russian borders, and the unjust and unilateral sanctions imposed on this country.

Rodriguez Parrilla referred to the high level of political dialogue and the increase in bilateral projects and their promising potential for development in several sectors.

For his part, Lavrov noted that despite the US blockade, Cuba has successfully developed several sectors, including education and health care.

The Russian foreign minister pointed out that his country was closely following the process of socioeconomic transformation in Cuba and the approval of its new Constitution.

On Sunday, Rodriguez Parrilla met with the Cuban community in Russia.
