Havana, Cuba.- More than 1,000 members of 103 trade unions from 87 countries are participating in the festivities on International Workers” Day in Cuba on Wednesday.
The emblematic Revolution Square in Havana welcomed 1,427 foreign representatives who witnessed the mass enthusiasm of the Cuban people at the May Day parade.
The event, chaired by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, and the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, was a show of support for the social process started by Fidel Castro in 1959, amid growing aggressiveness by the Government of the United States.
Washington has tightened the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba to suffocate the country.
Participants in the parade also ratified their unyielding support for the Venezuelan people and the Government of President Nicolas Maduro, besieged by Washington, which spares no efforts to overthrow that leader, who was elected by popular vote, and to appropriate the country’s natural resources.
They also demanded the release of former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who has been confined in prison by his political enemies, who have resorted to lies to prevent him from holding again the reigns of the country, where he removed thousands of people from extreme poverty.
