Quito, Ecuador.-The Ecuadorian National Assembly President Gabriela Rivadeneira announced a visit to Cuba on August 4-6, in which she would fulfill a tight working agenda to strengthen the bilateral relations.

Cuban Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel and the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo, have invited us to pay a visit regarding some of our reflections in this inter-parliamentarian interaction, she reported in the radio show Contigo de Ley (With You, on Laws).

Both sides have planned to analyze the possible signing of an agreement to strengthen the legislative schools in Ecuador, starting from the Cuban experience, she announced.

Cuba has made significant progress regarding its legislative school or the institute of political thinking, which we have boosted during these years, but we should consolidate a great deal of things for it to become a true space of training, political and legislative formation, she remarked. The idea is to sign the accord for the Cuban Parliament to be able to contribute directly to the strengthening of the Ecuadorian training center and having a more efficient institution, faced with the situation in this country.

The program includes exchanges with representatives of the Cuban Women’s Federation, to analyze the participation of women in the nation’s political life.

Cuba is one of the countries in the region that has, at parliamentary level, more women participation, she asserted.

She clarified that Ecuador is in the third position, only preceded by Cuba and Bolivia.
