diaz-canel-pakistaniHavana, Cuba.-First Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, met with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Mian Raza Rabbani, who is today on his second day of official activities invited by the National People”s Power Assembly (ANPP).

During the meeting held yesterday, both officials talked about the excellent state of bilateral ties and expressed the mutual interest of working to strengthen and extend them.

They also discussed the respective national realities and the international situation.

The distinguished visitor previously met with Esteban Lazo, head of the Cuban Parliament, who expressed the need to promote inter-parliamentary contacts in order to exchange experiences and facilitate the development of economic, commercial and political ties.

Raza Rabbani emphasized in that meeting the importance of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to whom he described as a world example of perseverance in the defense of the right to the sovereignty and dignity of the Third World nations.

Raza Rabbani, who arrived in Cuba on Friday, February 24th, accompanied by several senators, was also accompanied by Kamran Shafi, Pakistani ambassador to Havana.

ANPP vice president Ana Maria Machado, Deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez, and other officials from that ministry, attended the reception on the Cuban side.
