Tokyo, Japon.- The vice president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Roberto Morales, ratified on Sunday in Japan his country’s commitment to safeguarding world peace and eliminating nuclear weapons.

The high-ranking official expressed that stance in a message he left in the guest book of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, after paying tribute to the victims of the atomic bombing perpetrated in August 1945, according to the island’s Embassy in Japan.

‘Deeply moved by the history of this Museum, testimony of an abominable crime that must never be repeated, I wish to reaffirm before the noble people of Hiroshima Cuba’s commitment to the conquest of a world of peace and free of nuclear weapons, a dream for which the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, fought tirelessly,’ he wrote.

Morales also reiterated the position of the Caribbean state in his talks this Sunday with Hiroshima’s deputy mayor, Nobuyuki Koike.

Morales, who is also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, arrived this Saturday in Japan to attend the enthronement ceremony of the new emperor, Naruhito, which will take place between Tuesday and Thursday.

His agenda includes an extensive program of meetings with Japanese government authorities in the context of the celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the ties between the two nations.

Morales will continue his Asia tour to Singapore and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
