Havana, Cuba.- Cuba and Cape Verde today ratified their relations with the signing of an agreement to promote long-term cooperation in regional and international issues.

The document was signed by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez, and the head of Foreign Businesses and Communities of Cape Verde, Luis Filipe Lopes, who is making an official three-day visit to the Caribbean island.

During the meeting, Rodriguez recalled the common battles for independence and against colonialism, and thanked the support offered in the fight against the blockade imposed by the United States for almost 60 years.

For his part, Lopes said he was very honored to be in Cuba for the first time, and confirmed his country’s willingness to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the diplomatic and defense spheres.

Likewise, Roberto Morales and Arlindo do Rosario, Ministers of Public Health of Cuba and Cape Verde, respectively, signed in recent days a new protocol of collaboration on health, aimed at increasing mutual exchange.
