BOGOTA, Colombia. – The Cuban Embassy in Bogota expressed its condolences for the death of the Communist Party leader and Colombian journalist Carlos Lozano.

With deep sorrow we have received the sad news of the demise of Comrade Carlos Lozano Guillen, militant and communist leader, journalist and writer, fighter for peace and justice, the Cuban ambassador to Colombia, Jose Luis Ponce, said.

The director of Voz Weekly, organ of the Communist Party of Colombia, died last night in Bogota as a result of stomach cancer, the same media he directed for 25 years reported.

The Cuban ambassador to Colombia highlighted that Lozano was always in the front row when it came to the difficult road of peace building, aware that the political solution to the armed confrontation in his homeland represented a fundamental step towards the end of the conflict.
