Chilean port strike in a decisive moment.

VALPARAISO, Chile.- The strike kept by workers from the Chilean port of Valparaiso for just over a month could conclude today, or else radicalize more.

It all depends on the strikers approving in an assembly this Wednesday the points of a pre-agreement that representatives of the Government and of the unions reached this Tuesday in Santiago de Chile.

During that meeting, the Minister of Labor, Nicolas Monckeberg, considered a great advance to have achieved that pre-agreement, but warned it depends on the final approval by an assembly of the strikers.

He explained the understanding implies the creation of a permanent working table to analyze and modernize the current legislation and achieve a substantial improvement in the working conditions of dock workers and the operation of ports.
