Havana, Cuba.- Angolan President João Lourenço will visit Cuba at the end of this month to strengthen bilateral ties, announced today the African country”s foreign minister, Manuel Augusto.

In a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, Augusto announced that important legal instruments and others will be signed with the aim of strengthening the ‘indestructible’ ties with the Caribbean nation.

This visit reaffirms the solidarity and gratitude of Angola to Cuba, especially in times of aggressions and blockades that seek to limit their capacity for development, said Augusto at the headquarters of the Caribbean chancellery.

The Angolan Foreign Minister stressed the island’s important contribution to the independence of his country, as well as support for social and economic development programs.

Rodríguez, for his part, reiterated the importance that Cuba attaches to its historical ties with Angola, in particular; and Africa, in general.

We are pleased with the excellent state of bilateral relations and the will to strengthen them, said Augusto, recalling Cuban friendship with the African nation for more than 40 years.

The Foreign Minister recalled that collaboration takes place in sectors such as health, construction, education, science and technology, agriculture, defense and others.

After the meeting with Rodriguez, the Angolan delegation will visit facilities of the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center on Thursday, in the Scientific complex of this capital, according to the disclosed agenda.

Official data indicates that more than 800 Cuban health specialists and 1,137 education workers are in Angola.

At present, two thousand 180 Angolan students are being trained in the island; and to date, Cuba has graduated 7,995 professionals from that African nation.
