Havana, Cuba.- Delegates to the 16th International Congress, Pedagogia 2019, will debate in Havana on Wednesday the role of trade unions for the unity of educators and the need for the continental dialogue on education.

Papers on culture to face imperial domination strategies, and education and critical awareness, the latter by Brazilian theologian Frei Betto, are also scheduled during this third day of the event.

A tribute to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), was paid on Tuesday, in which the priority he gave to education and the strategies established to promote the academic training of Cubans were addressed.

More than 600 delegates from 42 countries are attending the Congress, which will be held until Friday at the Conference Center in Havana.

The event includes symposia, panels, and the presentation of more than 1,500 works by professors and researchers, mainly from Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Spain, Italy and the United States.

According to the organizers, the event allows to socialize scientific results and good practices of the work of thousands of education professionals who contribute to their work to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
