Havana, cuba.- The Cuban circus artist Hermes Mora won two prizes at the 1st Ibero-American Circus Festival (FIRCO) held from October 19 to 21 in Spain, the Cuban National Circus reported on Monday.

The awards for the revelation artist and the best performance went to Mora, who was described by experts as a new star of the Havana Company.

Venezuela’s Aime Morales (first place in circus wheel), the Peruvian duet Vitalys (second place in hand in hand), the Argentinean duo Laos (third place in acrobatic adagio) completed the list of award winners.

Sofia Speratti, from Argentina, was also awarded with the Originality Prize of Circuba, while the duet from Portugal and Brazil (2 Filles) won the public’s award and the Colombian duet Requiem received the Cirque du Soleil prize.

Organized by the Circontinentes Association, Firco 2018 brings together young circus artists from Ibero-American countries in a place of confluence and unique learning that strengthens ties in this community.

The Ibero-American Circus Festival took place at Teatro Circo Price in Madrid, where interesting and innovative proposals were presented to show the path of circus at present.
