Havana, Cuba. – The most recent meeting of the International Economic Forum sponsored by the Russian authorities, held some days ago in St. Petersburg confirmed the key alliance between Moscow and Latin America and the Caribbean.

An understanding that, without a doubt, is not well accepted or assumed by the hegemonic forces seeking to rearrange that geographical area in the old schemes of dependence regarding the imperial interests made in USA.

In fact, it is clear that the last events in Brazil point to weaken some mechanisms for dialogue such as the BRIC group, made up of precisely by Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa, and that has played down the economic and financial mechanisms of a neo-liberal nature.

Growing Ties

Latin American delegates at the International Economic Forum of St. Petersburg also recalled the existing complementarity between Latin America and the Caribbean and Russia, a power that also shares the aspiration of creating a multipolar and fair world.

Regional personalities suggest that Russia is an important ally for the Latin American and Caribbean efforts in achieving an economic and social sustainable development, and occupying a significant place in the international concert.

They explained that, despite the crisis in the prices of oil and other economic and financial ups and downs of global nature, those regional exchanges with Russia have grown, as well as the assistance of Moscow to important plans of integral development to benefit the area.
