Havana, Cuba.-The Cuban Mariana de Gonitch Singing Academy will close the ninth edition of the Varadero Gourmet International Festival on June 30, Hugo Osle, director of the academy reported.

The event, which will begin today in Varadero, in the Cuban western region, with the participation of 10 foreign companies, seeks to place Cuba as a first class tourist destination in the services of bars and cafeterias, and gastronomy in general.

The closing ceremony will be held at the square Plaza America, where the Singing Academy will give the concert ‘Fidel is Cuba,’ which has been presented on several stages, such as the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater of Havana, the Havana University Main Lecture Hall and the Jose Marti Memorial in this capital.

Osle told the news agency Prensa Latina that the program of the gala included songs as ‘Caruso,’ by Italian singer songwriter Lucio Dalla and ‘We are The World,’ by US artists Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.

Besides, the choir of the academy with the name of a famous Russian teacher, based in Cuba in the 20th century, will sing ‘Guantanamera’ by Joseito Fernandez and ‘Cabalgando con Fidel’ (Riding with Fidel), by Raul Torres, whop wrote it as a tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

They will also present the song ‘Cuba que Linda es Cuba’ (Cuba, How Beautiful Cuba Is) by Eduardo Saborit and other Cuban and Latin American songs.
